“Amang and her beautiful eyes” was recently featured on the official website of National Geographic. Heterochromia iridum is known as a condition where one iris has a different color from the other.  Statistics shows that only 1% of the whole population has it. Amang, a Lumad from Talaingod, Davao del Norte, Philippines, is among them.

About the Photographer:

Mark Louie Balladares is a 5th year student in Ateneo De Davao University taking up BS Architecture. His unerring passion for photography has led him to take one-of-a-kind portraits and breathtaking photos of nature, festivals and a lot more. At the same time, Mark is also the Head Photographer of Atenews, the official student publication of ADDU.

I met Mark during a photoshoot two years ago, if my memory serves me right. Since then, I have been a fan of his photography. He also loves to take photos of nature, sunset, tourist spots and a lot more.
